"What's positive: Brilliant display, sufficient integration, good battery life, GPRS data traffic counter
What's negative: Only 12-bit color, slow GPRS, unintellingent auto suspend, apalling grip

"I already liked the Trium Mondo for integrating two devices into one. However, the very limited RAM of only 16MB, lack of a storage card slot, monochrome display and slow processor didn't allow me to use it as my only and primary Pocket PC. However, I can now use and install all the software that I need and still have this great phone with me.

It's not only considerably smaller than the Mondo (especially it's less wide!), but also slightly lighter: it only weighs 196g (including a SD storage card) while the Mondo comes in at 210g.

I absolutely love this Pocket PC!"

PDA Buyer's Guide
"Pro: Great price for a Pocket PC 2002 PDA that also includes an integrated cell phone! Very good integration of cell phone and PDA functionality in terms of dialing, SMS and Internet. Excellent voice quality on calls. Excellent speaker phone. Great design and reasonable size for a phone that doubles as a Pocket PC. Expandable with an SD slot. Con: Customer service must replace the battery for you. Only 32 megs of RAM. Incoming call volume for phone calls could be louder (in standard mode, not speaker phone)."

"All in all I am very happy with my XDA. The price is expensive, but don´t forget, you get a PDA AND a Cell phone (my 3870 and the T68 was about 1100 Euro). I think its one of the most important devices this year. I am carrying it any where I go. Its hard to believe, but I don´t miss my Ericsson T68 and the iPAQ. I think I am going to sell it at ebay."

Tekguru
"Do I regret buying the XDA? Not at all, it's a beautifully crafted PDA and in operation is awesome. You will find it very easy to use and I for one now tend to use it as my preferred telephone instead of the regular phone, simply because I no longer need to look up a phone number and then dial using the phone handset, now it's simply look up a contact and tap and dial. While there are limiting factors such as the 32Mb of internal memory which initially prohibits the installation of large programs this can be worked around by using an MM or SD card. In use the XDA is stylish and soon becomes a valued tool which you will use throught the day. Since starting to use it I have never had the need to switch back to using the iPAQ 3870 at all. Connecting and working online is now entirely workable. With the iPAQ 3870 / Ericsson T68 combination you had to activate Bluetooth on both devices before you could start work which could be inconvenient, with the XDA you are online within seconds when needed."

The Gadgeteer
"I think that the T-Mobile makes a nice Pocket PC. It's is solidly made, has a great screen, and a good size. But, it's not a kick ass Pocket PC because it only has 32mb of memory and only a 12bit color display. It makes a really nice mobile phone because you can have tons of ring tones, keep detailed notes about your calls, surf the web, and send SMS messages. But, it doesn't make a kick ass mobile phone because it is kind of large, does not have voice dialing, or true one handed operation. On it's own, it neither makes a standout Pocket PC nor a standout mobile phone, but combined, it makes a really nice compact device that can pretty much do it all. That said, I would definitely buy one if GSM coverage was better in my area!"

ZDNet
"The xda is a superb example of how to integrate communications functionality into a handheld device. However, it will be costly to use and one or two features are missing from the specification."

ZDNet
"If you're in the market for a converged device, I wish I could recommend PocketPC Phone Edition, but I can't. The Microsoft/VoiceStream offering is not ready for prime time. While the software problems can easily be overcome through updates, the device's industrial design--especially the inflexibility of the batteries, the lack of built-in Bluetooth, and the inability shut it off--are reasons enough to hold off on this purchase. This product category is at the beginning of its lifecycle. In the next six to twelve months, we will see more capable PocketPC-based phones show up on the market that will bring this type of converged device into the mainstream."
